Video tools

The icompendium.com/accounts > Login > Edit > Videos section provides some different tools for uploading and sharing videos.

Video still

The video default still is based on the first frame of your video.  So, you may wish to create a new one based on a different time within the video.  This can be done like so:

  • Go to icompendium.com/accounts > Login > Edit > Videos, and click on the video name
  • Go to Default still > Generate
  • Enter the number of seconds into the video from which the still should be generated
  • Click Generate

Video versions

When a video is uploaded two versions are available -- the original, and one ending in .m4v, which is automatically generated by icompendium.  This second version is an alternate web-optimized version that you may find plays faster than your originally uploaded version.

Recompress video

You can create additional video versions using the built in recompression tools like so:

  • Go to icompendium.com/accounts > Login > Edit > Videos, and click on the video name
  • Go to Recompress > Settings...  These settings should look like so:

Video recompress settings

Size
This is native video dimension.  However, it may display on your site at a different dimension.

Video bit rate
This determines the amount of data used by the video per second.  It should be between 400 (for small lower quality videos that play quickly) to 2000 (for large high quality videos that require fast connections).

Audio bit rate
The amount of data used by the video for the audio.  This should normally be set to 256.

Format
This should normally be set to m4v.

QR code

This can be downloaded (right click and save it) and displayed, for example, on a print out.  When visitors scan the QR code the video should play on their device.
