Payment processors

There are two ways to receive payments through your site -- via PayPal or Square.

PayPal

PayPal is the default payment processor and is easy to set-up.

From a buyer's perspective
A buyer can pay via their PayPal account, or checkout as a guest (using only their credit card) via the PayPal website.

To set-up PayPal
  • Ensure that you have an email address entered into the admin section > Site settings > Site content > Your email field.  All money will be sent to the PayPal account associated with that email address.
  • You can add multiple email addresses to a single PayPal account.  So, if you use a different email address for your Icompendium website, you can add this to your PayPal account.
  • Turn on guest checkout so that buyers can optionally pay without a PayPal account.

Square

Square allows you to accept credit card payments directly on your Icompendium site.

From a buyer's perspective
Buyers enter their credit card directly on your site, and never see any third-party branding.

To set-up square
  • Go to admin section > More options (upper right) > Commmerce > Preferences > Checkout via, and be sure that Shopping cart is selected.
  • Scroll down to Payment processors, and here you can select Square as the processor.
  • You will need to click Grant access to Icompendium... to allow Icompendium to direct payments to your account.

Is it safe to accept credit cards directly on my website?
Yes. Square creates a secure payment form that submits the card number directly to the squareup.com server.  It is not possible for Icompendium or others to see the credit card number.
